A traditional city sightseeing tour that concentrates on Alfred Nobel’s life and the Nobel price ceremony.
We pass the Konsert huset (Concert Hall) where the Nobel ceremony is held every year and have a look at the local market just in front of it before visiting the beautiful area of Djurgården, the king’s ancient hunting grounds. Now housing an open air museum and a funfair, Djurgården is a popular destination for locals as well as tourists. We then visit the Nobel Museum in Gamla Stan (Old Town), a must-stop for any Stockholm visitor with its narrow alleys and beautiful medieval houses, and enjoy an excellent view of Stockholm from the street Fjällgatan located on the heights of Söder. We will also pass Heleneborg, Nobel’s laboratory, where early experiments with dynamite were made. A tragic explosion took place there in 1864 killing six people, including Alfred Nobel’s brother. |
