Day 1: Arrival/Stockholm
This tour starts at Arlanda airport, where you are met and transferred to your accommodation in the heart of Stockholm. If you arrive early, we recommend getting the Stockholm Card, which gives you access to most museums in Stockholm, the Stockholm underground and local buses.
Day 2: Stockholm - Örebro (around 200 km of driving)
From Stockholm you drive west to Mariefred and explore the 16th-century Gripsholm Castle, enjoy the art collection in side and its well-preserved interior from different époques. In Eskilstuna you can visit the blacksmith community, which dates from the 17th century, and where the smiths are still busy with their crafting. Head on toward Örebro and the open-air museum in Wadköping, with its beautiful old buildings, craftspeople and shops. Stay the night in the Örebro area.
Day 3: Örebro – Karlstad(around 115 km of driving)
After breakfast, visit the Örebro Castle. Join a guided tour to learn about the remarkable past of this 14th century castle. Take the detour to Grythyttan and visit Grythyttans Värdshus for a true culinary experience. After a delicious meal, you will drive to Karlstad, where you will stay the night.
Day 4: Karlstad – Trollhättan (around 180 km of driving)
Drive along the shore of Lake Vänern to Trollhättan—for water lovers, there will be several opportunities to go for a swim on the way. The interesting “ropeway tour” provides a beautiful view of the Trollhättan, where you will stay the night.
Day 5: Trollhättan – Gothenburg (Göteborg) (around 80-150 km of driving depending on road)
See the impressive lock system of the Trollhätte Canal, and how the boats are guided through the canal system. Drive along the riverbanks of Göta älv River to Gothenburg, or drive west and visit the islands Orust and Tjörn, both of which are well worth a visit. Don’t miss the Bohus fort by the Göta älv River, north of Gothenburg. You will spend the night in Gothenburg, the second largest city in Sweden.
Day 6: Gothenburg (Göteborg) – Karlsborg (around 200 km of driving)
Drive past Borås, where you can make a stop at the Borås Zoo. This zoo maintains international standards, with elk, bear and wolf, as well as elephants and giraffes, to mention just a few. Drive north to Karlsborg, where you will visit the Karlsborg Fort before you check in for your overnight stay nearby.
Day 7: Karlsborg - Stockholm (around 320 km of driving)
In Tiveden National Park, there are several nice hiking trails for nature lovers. On your way back to Stockholm, we recommend visiting the pretty little town of Trosa, by the coastline, and the 18th-century Tullgarn Castle, which features some of the most beautiful interiors from the time period. Stay the night in Stockholm.
Day 8: Departure
Transfer from Stockholm by Arlanda Express to Arlanda airport. Passengers departing with the afternoon flight will have time for some last-minute shopping, a perfect way to end your holiday.
